** Here I just got the T90. I thought I’d take a quick overview and some of it running, since it does not seem to be much more decent shots of this engine out there. For the money it is a decent model. Great half-liter boiler, such as the D22, but lacks the drain valve. The base is also smaller, making it more compact than the D22. I’m shooting with the largest forest of my Classics meths burner. I’m surprised that it maintained the pressure so well considering the steam passes through. I was able to keep good indicated 1.5 bar with the burner around peak power. It worked both the PMR and stepper generators too well. It ‘a little’ strange oil also run a steam engine and not slopping all over the place: this device does not need oil. The feet of the base have some cracks in them, but does not affect the function of the machine, and considering that it cost me a total of $ 180, I’m satisfied. Jensen is not a 95g in the looks department, but it’s more in my half of a 95g is.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIf you use a flash boiler, the efficiency will grow up.
@fernandesilyt It is written on the wilesco site that if good oiled, it can reach 9000 with no problem.
i see..nice model anyway…i got the wilesco steam roller…
It’s using a pile more steam than a regular engine. Turbines gobble steam. The boiler on this thing even has two rows of fences underneath that I can only guess are heatsinks to get more calories into the boiler. Never seen them on another Wilesco.
why does it smokes so much more compared to a regulair steam engine??
You know I never did put a tach on the power take off… I’ll have to try that next time. It would not surprise me if it was up around at least 2000RPM, which means the turbine is a good several thousand more.
Nice work! Congratulations.
How many RPM?
it sounds like a jet engine.
i have a 3 stage tubine well lets just say its more powerful than a store bought dremle
Thanks
I’ve not done much else with this one. Don’t seem to have the time these days.
This would seem to be an impulse type. There is a single nozzle blasting steam on the blades. Everything else in there is for the reduction gears.
That is very cool mate, sounds the jobby! Have you thought of trying to make a vacuum condenser for the exhaust side? I think it would increase the turbine output and efficieny considerably, possibly creating enough power to light up those LED’s
Oh and is that stage just a brute impulse wheel? or reaction? couldn’t tell in the video!
Cheers, great video
For the toy engines it has to be the piston engines. These single-stage turbines just aren’t all that efficient, and the gearing is just so that you can get a bit of useful work out of them. My Empire turbine has no gearing, and it’s absolutely gutless. The Empire B30 piston engine is more powerful, even though it’s only single-acting.
Which gives more power for the amount of steam – a steam turbine or a piston engine?
Piston engines don’t leak pressure when slowed down, but turbines can be geared down for higher speed power. I’m not sure which one wins
my number one question was how much torque does it have, but you displayed that so thanks.
Pretty much
They aren’t much to look at. I think people buy turbines just to annoy other people with. The sound is something else.
its a jet that runs on steam lol…..
Nice turbine
Ta. The generator is made by an outfit called “PM Research”. You can look up the specs at their site (I don’t remember), but they are wildly inflated anyway from what I’ve seen. In a controlled experiment in another video I used the Jensen 20 to drive it and managed to produce, I believe, about 2 watts. Fuel is denatured alcohol (I hate Esbit) in a vapourizing burner, and the boiler is good for 15-20 minutes between fills.
Check out user reidsteam. He’s got a more powerful toy generator.
Hey ty for showing us your new toy, if that’s a small generator how much watts does it produce also whats it fuel and how much water does it go through in how long? Sorry for so many questions I was just thinking about scaling it up for a home generator.
If it’s pulling a load it’s not so bad for noise, but there’s a lot more fog than when it is freewheeling at full blow.
D22 is in a box at the bottom of a small mountain of boxes. Just have not had a chance to get back to it lately.
hah you could use it as a fog machine!!
That screeching must get annoying after a while though.
hey i had an idea! since it runs so easily you could just hook it up to the exsaust of you model 20!what happened to you d22 by the way?
