passive solar design requires that ambient solar warmth coming in out pace the loss of heat any window creates let alone a wall of windows most passive solar requires. Hence R value of the windows should be as high as possible to make the system most efficient – indeed if done poorly such a system might actually cause a net loss of heat rather then gain
