What are the causes that have transformed America from an exporter of oil to the largest importer in the world? What are the economic and sociological forces that have contributed to this change and impede its solution? The film examines various possible solutions to our dependence on oil. Starting with claims of buried technology that dramatically improves gas mileage, the film moves from the navigation bureaucratic governmental roadblocks, to evaluating different alternative fuels that are technologically available now, to question the American consumer’s reluctance to embrace alternatives.
